Dr Wọlé Akósílè -- Yoruba School Australia


Dr Wọlé Akósílè

Wọlé is the Executive Director and public officer of Yoruba School Australia. He is the visioner and the brain behind Yoruba School Australia. He also oversees the organisation’s expansion. He is a psychiatrist, academic, author of many plays, novels, and short stories. He is proud of his Yoruba heritage. He hails from Ilesa and is a member of the Òṣíkọ́lá ruling house in Ilé-Ifẹ̀. His vision is to see every person of Yoruba heritage in Australia particularly first- and second-generation Australians speak and write Yoruba language at intermediate to advance level. Having the school will help make this a reality for many African families of Yoruba heritage in Australia. Wole also wants them to know about their rich history, culture, and language in line with the broader vision of a multicultural Australia.

Ṣèyí Akósílè

Seyi is a director of Yoruba School Australia. She is responsible for curriculum development and teaching. She is a lawyer qualified both in Australia and Nigeria. She has practiced in various areas of the legal profession for more than 15 years.
Seyi is a native Yoruba speaker who hails from the source – Ilé-Ifẹ̀. She is passionate about the Yoruba language. She studied Yoruba as part of her education graduating with a distinction in the Yoruba language. She is passionate about the rich Yoruba culture and has a burning desire to showcase the Yoruba language and culture to Australia and around the world.
