Yoruba School Australia

YSA is a charity with a vision to promote the Yoruba language and culture in Australia. One of the ways YSA aims to do this is through the Yoruba language school. YSA’s classes are open to anyone and are run both face to face and online. Our school aims to bring the Yoruba Language and Culture to you in a contemporary, fun, and engaging way. We strive to immerse you in the beauty of the Yoruba values, traditions, culture, food, and way of life. We pay our respects to the traditional owners and keepers of this land and acknowledge all elders past, present, and emerging.

The Historical and Cultural Society of Yoruba Australia trading as Yoruba School Australia Is a not-for-profit organisation whose role is to promote the Yoruba language and culture In Australia.

The organisation will promote the study, writing and speaking of the Yoruba language in Australia and educate its members and Australians about the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba people and their history, food and culture.

 

         The organisation will:

  • Promote the sophisticated values of the Yoruba people and assist its members with striking the balance between acculturation and assimilation and maintaining cultural heritage;
  • Provide funding through scholarships and awards for projects aimed at promoting Yoruba culture;
  • Acquire, create and preserve materials about the Yoruba Heritage and establish a resource centre to support the study of the Yoruba culture;
  • Provide leadership, advocacy and cultural authenticity to people of Yoruba heritage; and
  • Support tourism in Australia by providing a Yoruba cultural heritage centre.
